Retail Merchandising Manager is responsible for leading and grow assigned product categories within our retail pharmacy chain. This role will be responsible for category performance, product assortment, supplier management, pricing, and promotional strategies to drive sales, margin, and customer loyalty across locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Strategy & Business Planning
- Develop category strategies based on market analysis, sales data, and customer insights.
- Define and optimize product mix for each store format, ensuring alignment with customer needs and brand positioning.
- Set category targets and KPIs including revenue, margin, inventory turnover, and market share.
Product Selection & Assortment Management
- Identify new products and innovations across drug and non-drug lines (e.g., supplements, cosmetics, medical devices).
- Manage product lifecycle: onboarding, performance tracking, and rationalization.
- Tailor assortment plans by region/store clusters based on demographic and demand profiles.
Pricing & Promotions
- Define pricing architecture and promotional strategies to drive competitiveness and profitability.
- Work closely with marketing to develop trade promotions, product campaigns, and customer activation programs.
- Analyze promotional effectiveness and ROI to inform future planning.
Vendor & Supplier Management
- Lead negotiations with suppliers and manufacturers to secure favorable terms and marketing support.
- Monitor vendor performance including delivery, product quality, and compliance.
- Build long-term partnerships to access innovation and supply chain efficiency.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work with regulatory, operations, and training teams to ensure compliance, store execution, and pharmacist knowledge.
- Partner with logistics and supply chain to forecast demand and ensure stock availability.
- Collaborate with analytics/BI teams to track category health and generate actionable insights.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Pharmacy or related fields.
- At least 5 years of experience in merchandising, product assortment management, or equivalent positions, preferably with experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Effective leadership and team management skills.
- Creativity, aesthetic sense, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in office software and related product and display management tools.
